The first presentation of the wonderful ballet « Romeo and Juliet »

The Bolshoi Theater was founded in 1776 by the order of empress Ekaterina II.

There are a lot of theatres in Russia, but the Bolshoi Theatre is the most important. It’s located in Moscow, the capital of our country. The theatre was founded in 1776, by the order of empress Ekaterina II.

The first building of the theatre was built in 1780. It burnt down several times. But it was restored.

The performances of ballet and opera had been held in the theatre till 2005, when it was closed for the reconstruction. More than four thousand restorers took part in the reconstruction. They added to the building a basement under the auditorium with the new stage, make-up rooms, rehearsal rooms, etc. The modern equipment was established there.

Main stage of the theatre consists of the seven two-levels platforms. The position of the platforms may easily change so that it can become horizontal or inclined.

The international experts observed the restoration of acoustics.

The theatre was reopened in October, 2011. It’s a symbol of Russia.

The auditorium has become the same that it was in XIX century and the spectators have been admired with the interiors of the theatre, the various arabesques on the each floor, a picturesque plafond « Apollo and muses ».

The performances of ballet and opera of the Russian classics of the XIX and the XX centuries, of the western classics including masterpieces of the XX century, and specially ordered compositions take place in the theatre now.

The spectators of more than 40 countries watch the performances of the Bolshoi Theatre at the cinema, in the internet.

The first presentation of the wonderful ballet « Romeo and Juliet » in the direct transmission took place only in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. But the spectators of towns Ryazan, Novosibirsk, Syktyvkar, Murmansk, Voronezh and Krasnodar will watch it too June,11.

It is very convenient to watch the performances in such a way but everybody dreams to visit the Bolshoi Theatre.
