Social project Fairy-tale Map of Russia is created to combine all information available on the museums, estates and residences of all characters of Russian fairy-tales and legends. It was was launched in November 2010. The places of habitat of ancient Russian fairy-tales characters are designated on the map of Russia.
Among the cities where the fairy-tale characters appeared, according to historical information, are Rostov (Frog Princess, Alyosha Popovich), Moscow and Great Ustyug in Vologda region (Father Frost), Kostroma (Snow Maiden) and Tver region (Koschei the Immortal).
The experts who advise the authors of the project on the definition of the places of birth of fairy-tale characters are regional specialists - historians, local historians and philologists.
The idea of creating a Fairy-tale map of Russia belongs to the resident of Moscow Alexei Kozlovsky known as an author of many social projects in the capital. The project Fairy-tale Map of Russia received greatest support and response in Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk and Kirov regions.
The authors of the project announced that the Fairy-Tale Map will be followed by the Tasty Map of Russia.
